COVID-19 update to MCT ILU's North
8 April, 2020

Good afternoon all retirement village residents of Masonic Care Tasmania (MCT),

The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, clients and staff is always our priority, and this premise continues to guide our actions during the COVID-19 emergency period.

I have a few matters of importance I need to bring to your attention:

  1. Immediate closure of Community Centre, Library & Games areas:
In line with Government recommendations, Masonic Care Tasmania has made the difficult decision to immediately close all retirement village Community Centres in response to the threat of community transmission of the COVID-19 virus from touching door handles, gym or sporting equipment or library books that haven’t been sanitized regularly.
Please retain any library books that you may have at home for the time being until after the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are lifted.
  2. Hard Waste Collection day 8:00 am Monday 20th of April:
Masonic Care Tasmania has again arranged for our contractor to pick up any “hard waste” which you may wish to dispose of. This could include old or surplus furniture, white goods, boxes of books etc. All village residents are asked to put any hard waste items out near the roadway before 8:00 am on Monday 20th of April for collection.
  3. Scheduled cleaning of Independent Living Units gutters:
All scheduled cleaning of gutters has been put on hold for the foreseeable future.
  4. Maintenance forms:
Residents are asked to lodge all maintenance forms in the newly installed “maintenance form boxes” at your community centre as all MCT aged care facilties are now restricted to essential services only. This includes key staff, health care and other service providers to ensure the ongoing operations of the sites and the health and safety of the residents.

If the maintenance request is urgent or you are unable to walk to the Community Centre drop box to lodge your request, please ring me directly to lodge the request over the phone.

Please do not give maintenance request forms directly to maintenance staff

If your request is an immediate threat to life or property, please call me on 0459 021 811 or the MCT Peace Haven Reception on 6345 7200.

These restrictions are due to COVID-19 recommendations to keep residents and staff safe and to reduce unnecessary foot traffic into your homes.
Examples of urgent essential works – done in 24-48 hours:
