CEO update to our valued community
21 March, 2020

Important information for our valued community

The COVID-19 situation is rapidly evolving and in response MCT has implemented a number of measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents, clients, families and staff members. These measures require the full cooperation of members of the community.

We would like to advise that as of 3.00pm on Saturday 21 March 2020, our residential aged care homes will be temporarily limited to essential visitors and contractors for a minimum two-week period. This includes key staff, health care and other service providers, to ensure the ongoing operations of the sites, and the health and safety of the residents.

Essential visits beyond that scope will be assessed on a case by case basis with a focus on the health and safety of each resident. No visits will be permitted unless access has been arranged prior, by telephone, with the facility. If you are a family, friend or carer of a resident in one of our homes, please contact the facility directly.

While we have not had a confirmed case of COVID-19, in the interests of protecting our most vulnerable members of the community, we did not feel that we could wait any longer, to ensure their protection.

MCT understands that although many services have ceased given the current climate, this does not stop older Australians from requiring much needed care. We are still admitting residents for permanent or respite care. MCT is committed to working with you to ensure that everyone can be supported in this challenging environment.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation.
