Letter to Residents, Families & Advocates - New Aged Care Direction
6 August, 2021

Dear valued Residents, Families and Advocates,

RE: New Aged Care Direction

I want to thank you once again for your patience and understanding as we continue to work together to protect our community from COVID-19.

Last night the Tasmanian Government announced the following changes to the Aged Care Direction that will be in place from 12.01am Friday 6 August 2021 until 11.59pm Thursday 12 August 2021.

Facemasks
Anyone who enters a residential aged care facility – including staff – must wear a facemask at all times when on the premises of the residential aged care facility. This requirement does not apply to residents in the aged care facility. For any persons that have a medical exemption from wearing a facemask, please contact the Facility Manager prior to visiting the facility. Facemasks will be available for you upon your arrival and must be worn for the duration of your visit.

Visitor arrangements
Visitors to residential aged care facilities will be restricted to one visit per resident per day, with a maximum of two visitors. Visits are to be in the Residents room or in a designated communal or outdoor area. Please coordinate your visit with other family members prior to visiting to ensure we adhere to the new visitor limits.

A friendly reminder to use the Check in TAS app on arrival in addition to the current signing in process in place at each MCT site.

We continue to encourage you to adhere to social distancing and good hand hygiene at all times, and please stay at home if you feel unwell.

Please be assured that we are here to support you and your loved ones. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Facility Manager directly.

Yours sincerely,
Katie Cooley
