Letter to Residents Families & Advocates - Updated Aged Care Direction
20 August, 2021

Dear valued Residents, Families and Advocates,

RE: Extension of visitor restrictions and requirement for all staff and visitors to wear a facemask when on the premises of a Residents Aged Care Facility

I want to thank you once again for your patience and understanding as we continue to work together to protect our community from COVID-19.

This morning the Tasmanian Government announced the that the Aged Care Direction that was in place from 12.01am Friday 13 August 2021 will be extended for a further 7 days, until 11.59pm Thursday 26 August 2021. Please see the updated Direction attached, or alternatively it can be viewed here.

Facemasks
Anyone who enters a residential aged care facility – including staff – must wear a facemask at all times when on the premises of the residential aged care facility. This requirement does not apply to residents in the aged care facility. For any persons that have a medical exemption from wearing a facemask, please contact the Facility Manager prior to visiting the facility. Facemasks will be available for you upon your arrival and must be worn for the duration of your visit.

Visitor arrangements
Visitors to residential aged care facilities will be restricted to one visit per resident per day, with a maximum of two visitors.

Visits are to be in the Residents room or in a designated communal or outdoor area. Please coordinate your visit with other family members prior to visiting to ensure we adhere to the new visitor limits.

We continue to encourage you to adhere to social distancing and good hand hygiene at all times, and please stay at home if you feel unwell.

Please be assured that we are here to support you and your loved ones. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Facility Manager directly.

Yours sincerely,
Katie Cooley
