MCT Acting CEO Update - COVID-19 Update
16 November, 2020

Dear valued Residents, Families and Advocates,

RE: COVID-19 Update – change to South Australian State risk level

As you may be aware, the latest COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide has meant that South Australia is now a medium risk area for travel to Tasmania.

From today, all travellers from South Australia to Tasmania will need to self-isolate at home or in their accommodation for 14 days.

If you, or someone you have been in contact with, are now in Tasmania and have been in South Australia at any time since Saturday 7 November, you should immediately self-isolate in your residence or accommodation.

Please be alert for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek testing through the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 if you have any symptoms, even mild.

To ensure that we continue to keep our Residents, Clients and Staff safe, anyone who has visited a medium or high risk area will be required to self-isolate or quarantine as directed by Public Health prior to visiting our Facilities and Villages.

Current interstate and international travel restrictions to Tasmania are as follows:
Low Risk Areas: ACT, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia, New Zealand
Medium Risk Areas: Victoria, South Australia
High Risk Areas: Overseas (excluding New Zealand), Cruise Ship

For more information regarding border arrangements, COVID-19 low, medium or high risk areas, please visit https://www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/travellers-and-visitors/coming-to-tasmania

With the outbreak in Adelaide, we are reminded how important it is to maintain good hand hygiene and social distancing and staying home if you feel unwell.

All current visitor restrictions remain in place at our Facilities:

  • a maximum of two visitors per resident, per day in the resident’s room or specific non-communal area
  • one single point of entry to sign in/out, screen and monitor visitors via main reception.

Please be assured that we are here to support you and your loved ones. If you have any questions or concerns about your own visiting arrangements, please contact your Facility Manager directly.

Yours sincerely,

Katie Cooley
