MCT COVID-19 Planning & Response Zoom Meeting #1
9 October, 2020

Dear valued Residents, Families and Advocates,

Thank you to all those who could attend our Zoom Meeting.  It was wonderful to see so many of you and have a great conversation about how we can all best continue to manage the risk of COVID-19, and our preparedness in the event of an outbreak in Tasmania or in one of our facilities.

For those of you who weren’t able to join us, below is a link to our recording of the meeting: https://vimeo.com/466411329

As discussed at the meeting, over the coming weeks our Leisure & Lifestyle teams will be showing our Residents the What to expect during a COVID-19 outbreak video https://youtu.be/xPT-AztUd6w (developed by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission) which provides a summary of the changes that will be made to reduce the risk of individuals, other residents and the staff contracting COVID-19.

We shared with you at the meeting a one page Outbreak Prevention Plan that we are currently working to, and our one page Outbreak Response Plan in the event of an outbreak. Please find enclosed both of those plans for your reference.

In addition, in the event of an outbreak, Advocacy Tasmania on behalf of Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), have produced the enclosed flyer, which can easily be completed and sent to them if a Resident would like someone outside of MCT to talk to.  This will be provided to your loved ones in the event of an outbreak.

The feedback from our Zoom meeting was that families really enjoyed the opportunity to obtain information from MCT and also the ability to be involved in the open question and answer session.

We are planning to have another Zoom meeting early in November to provide an update on what’s happening after the Tasmanian borders have opened, which will again give families the opportunity to participate in another question and answer session.

In the meantime, we will add a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) on our dedicated COVID-19 page on the MCT website, so keep an eye out for that.

Please be assured that we continue to be here to support you and your loved ones. If you have any questions at all please contact your loved one’s Facility Manager, myself or one of our team directly.

We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we work though this together and we will continue to keep you informed if anything changes.

Yours sincerely,

Jackie Howard
Chief Executive Officer
