Migrant Resource Program celebrates fourth successful graduation!

At our recent April graduation ceremony in Launceston, thirteen graduates from cultural and linguistic-diverse backgrounds will be joined by their families, peers and members of the local community to celebrate their completion of Masonic Care’s training and employment pathway project.

Jobs in Disability and Aged Care has been an 18-month training and job ready skills program, tailored for migrants.
Funded by the Tasmanian Government, the program has provided 50 people with industry specific training, including accredited training
to help them prepare for jobs in those sectors.

Participants have received 60 hours of practical work placements in ‘buddy shifts’ and in this final intake, 13 participants have completed placements at St Giles, Masonic’s Fred French and Peace Haven sites, gaining experience in catering, laundry, and cleaning.  The past three intakes have resulted in 60% of participants gaining employment.
