Recommended Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) for all Staff, Visitors and Contractors
24 March, 2022

Dear Valued Residents, Families and Advocates

RE: Recommended Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) for all Staff, Visitors and Contractors

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your ongoing patience and understanding as we work together to keep our community safe from Covid-19. We know this has been a challenging time for everyone and we appreciate your continued support and assistance with all the safety measures we have put in place.

We have recently been advised that, Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT) prior to entering a Residential Aged Care Facility is strongly recommended by the Commonwealth Department of Health and the Tasmanian Aged Care Emergency Operations Centre to support the safety of our Residents and Staff.

As a precautionary measure and in response to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the broader Tasmanian Community, we will be commencing daily RAT testing for all for all Staff, Visitors and Contractors from tomorrow Friday 25 March 2022.

MCT will provide RAT kits for all visitors and contractors to complete and staff will be available to assist you with this.

We will review this requirement on Monday 4 April 2022.

In addition to this, all staff and contractors will continue to wear N95 masks and eye protection and we require all visitors to wear, at a minimum, a surgical mask, as we know mask wearing is one of our best defenses in minimizing transmission of Covid-19.

Yours sincerely

Jackie Howard
