Update on Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission site audit
7 April, 2022

 Dear Residents, Families and Advocates

Update on Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission site audit

I write further to my letter of 11 March 2022, to provide an update following the recent Site Audit conducted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) in March.

This Site Audit was our first full re-accreditation against the new standards that were introduced in July 2019. The auditors have provided us with extremely helpful feedback regarding how we are tracking against the new standards and have identified several areas of our practice, systems and processes that we need to address.

There is nothing more important to us than the care of our residents. As a result of the feedback provided by ASQSC, we have taken immediate action and committed to improving our gaps.

One of the immediate actions we have taken is to engage Standards Wise International Australia, a consultancy and advisory organisation providing expertise in supporting excellence in Aged Care. Standards Wise will partner with us for the foreseeable future as we work to improve our practices and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce Linden Brazier and Anthea Le Cornu, Nurse Advisors and Miriam Bayhon, Practice Specialist from Standards Wise all of whom will be on site at Freemasons from 20 April 2022.

As previously committed, we will be sharing further information regarding the Site Audit findings and recommendations provided by ASQSC, once their report has been finalized and received.

In closing I would like to thank you for your ongoing patience and support in what we know is a challenging time as we respond to the current COVID-19 outbreak at Freemasons Home. I would like to thank those of you who were able to join us at yesterday’s Family Forum, it was great to have so many families able to participate. If you weren’t able to attend please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions relating to the current outbreak.

Should you have any query arising from this update, please don’t hesitate to contact Ms Suzie Madden, Interim Residential Manager directly on 6282 5286 who will be able to help you.

Yours sincerely

Jackie Howard
