Update on COVID-19 outbreak (Freemasons)
5 April, 2022

 Dear Residents, Families and Advocates

Update on COVID-19 outbreak – Freemasons Home

We are committed to providing clear and timely communications with respect to the evolving situation at Freemasons Home and we thank you for your ongoing patience and support.

As you are aware, yesterday a full sweep of PCR testing was conducted across the facility. We have now received these results and unfortunately, it has been confirmed we have a number of additional residents who have tested positive, bringing our total number of COVID positive residents to 31.

The Residents and their families have been informed and are receiving our ongoing support. If our team has not contacted you, rest assured that the impacted Residents are not your loved one.

This afternoon we received advice the following advice from the Public Health Medical Officer:

 A further round of PCR testing will be undertaken for all residents (excepting those residents who have already tested positive) this coming Thursday (7 April 2022)

 All residents across the home are strongly encouraged to stay in their rooms until the results of the above mentioned round of testing is completed and results received; we would very much appreciate your support in this direction and in encouraging your loved one to stay in their rooms.

In addition, staff will remain in full PPE and as we continue to welcome each resident’s nominated visitor, we will continue to require to undertake a RAT on arrival and to wear a N95 mask and eye protection during their visit. Of course, as always, if you are a nominated visitor and you feel unwell in anyway, please do not attend the Home.

We know this is a very worrying time and we are doing everything we can to support our Residents and Staff and we will continue to keep you updated.

Please join us for a Families and Advocates on-line meeting to tomorrow to discuss the current situation at Freemasons Home, and the ongoing precautions we are taking.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday 6 April 2022 between 4pm and 5pm.
