MCT COVID-19 Update Zoom meeting #2
9 November, 2020

RE: MCT COVID-19 Update: Zoom Meeting, 4 November 2020

Dear valued Residents, Families and Advocates,

Thank you to those who attended our second Zoom meeting on Wednesday 4 November, it was great to see everyone there. We were really pleased to receive your questions and we hope that the meeting provided families with information in a welcoming and engaging format.

For those of you who weren’t able to join us, below is a link to our recording of the meeting: https://www.masoniccaretas.com.au/news/mct-covid-19-update-zoom-meeting-2/

Nita Joy from Advocacy Tasmania joined the meeting and spoke about the additional client focussed support Advocacy Tasmania can provide to residents and families in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak. This included assistance with communication between families and providers, as well as mental health support for residents. Nita also shared information about the Emergency Leave Provision provided by the Australian Government and how that has now been extended until June 2021.

Needless to say Christmas will be celebrated quite differently this year compared to previous years, however we are determined to make it just as special with Christmas High Teas and Christmas themed activities running throughout December at each facility. We sincerely encourage families to take their loved ones out to celebrate Christmas Day lunch or dinner as we will not be having the traditional Christmas Day Banquet we have always held pre COVID-19.
More information about our Christmas High Teas will be sent to families in the coming week, so please keep an eye out for that.

We are planning to have another Zoom meeting early December which will again give families the opportunity to participate in another question and answer session around our COVID-19 preparations and plans.

No doubt this has been and continues to be a trying and challenging time for families. We really want to reassure you that through these video meetings you not only have an opportunity to talk to us and ask questions in a safe space, but to put some friendly faces to our names.

We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding as we work though this together and we will continue to keep you informed if anything changes.

Yours sincerely,

Katie Cooley
